HOW WOULD YOU IMPROVE YOUR COMMUNITY?

Its very simple really , be kind , dont judge people before you give them a chance. You never know them if you first don’t say hi and ask them about themselves, we all guilty of pre-Judging I think over the years We lost something important people skills.

Times are different when I grew up where family and community were part of life.

We here older people talk about the good old days , they were tough but you were never alone you spent time chatting to people , at the shops , days out.

These days, everyone is trying to find their group , their communities.

We live in our world now where everything is talked about more openly with people you probably will never meet in real life. Because there is miles between you.

Neighbours come and go replaced by new families.

Friendships fall apart quicker over  disagreements,

Sometimes life is so fast-paced that you dont have time to stop and chat.

What secret ability do you have? Or wishes you had.?

Intuition and Empathy.

Both I think are important things.

I think it’s is something I have always had.

Maybe, though, because routine plays a huge part in my life and experiences keep me on high alert for things that can go wrong.

There is a subtle change in people I can pick up on easily. People’s tone of voice, the way they say something , body language. Or unspoken differences.

Maybe that’s part of being a carer. You have to be so observant of all these things

I guess though it is like walking in a room some people you emidatly feel at home with and others something tells you to be aware and on alert.

Maybe we all subcontiously judge people, but the empathy kicks in when you decide to give someone a chance despite your spidy senses being up.

I have had many intuitive moments in my lifetime, but maybe that’s also because I know the person I have this intuition about.

I would say it’s a secret ability but also a hard thing to live with sometimes.

You’re going on a cross-country trip. Airplane, train, bus, car, or bike?

Car less crowded,  I can stop when I want , I love to take in the views as I drive.

Music in the background, no scedual or set times, just the road.

Many times, I have made the cross-country trip to visit mum at home or hospital. Visit my sons.

The destination is always family.

There is something peaceful about that.

Talking on the phone or messaging is never the same as seeing people in person.

What activities do you lose yourself in?

I can get quite hyper fixated on projects,

Crafty ones,birthdays,photography, food.

It’s normally around my children or family and Hayley.

When my kids were little, it was their bedrooms school dress up day,

It’s about making someone feel special and important, focusing on their love of things.

I enjoy seeing their faces light up.

I guess you could say it’s a mood booster to do things for others.

It doesn’t matter what is going on in your life problems or struggles having something to focus on takes your mind off negative thinking, an activity can sometimes get you out of that loop.

But of course, though, there is sometimes a downside to that when the project is finished, the excitement has died down your looking for the next project so you can always feel that feeling.

We are quite a routine kinda family , some may even say as an autistic family repetitive and restrictive, (but within that bracketed and terminology ) and empathic want to help others and feel others we have learnt to add some spontinaity of spreading a little joy to others.

We had Jake’s and Amarah’s birthday in Febuary, Tom’s birthday party was today, and now I am hyper focused on our niki’s upcoming birthday.

It is actually helping to take my mind off the car being broken and needing a new clutch and the hefty price tag to fix it. Still hopefully by Monday that will be fixed and that issue is dealt with.

It’s too big a job to do ourselves, which is a frustrating bit. As most of the cost is labour. Still onwards and upwards, as the saying goes, I have a birthday to plan🤣🤣
